Rupert Grint, famed for playing Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movie franchise, announced a few months ago that he was to star in a one-camera sitcom called Super Clyde, to air on CBS. Grint was to play an mild-mannered fast-food worker that decides that he wants to become a superhero.
Entertainment Weekly gave us a few pointers on why it should have worked, and why it didn’t.
Why it SHOULD have worked:
Fun idea, and the Harry Potter star seems like a natural for a TV sitcom.
Why it DIDN’T work:
CBS was high on Grint, and still is. But the concept was deemed off-brand for the network and the net’s other comedies came in strong. Plus, successful comedy blocks are about creating flow, and there was also nothing compatible that CBS had to pair it with.

While the “Ron” actor seemed to take a break from fame compared to the busy schedules of his costars, he has a lot of exciting ventures in the works.
Check out this new pic of Rupert Grint as Cheetah Chrome for CBGB!
Also starring Ashley Greene as Lisa Kristal, the flick tells the story of Hilly Kristal (Alan Rickman) and his New York club from its conceit as a venue for Country, Bluegrass and Blues (CBGB) to what it ultimately became: the birthplace of underground rock ‘n roll and punk.
When Kristal had difficulty booking country bands in his club on the Bowery he opened his doors to other kinds of rock music. Kristal had one demand of the acts he booked; they could only play original music. No top 40s, no covers. It was the credo he lived by, support the artist at whatever the cost.
CBGB is set to open later this year.
This little-known film will star not one, but two Harry Potter actors!
ComingSoon.net has a first look at a clip from Magnolia Pictures’ Into the White, the war drama starring Rupert Grint (“Harry Potter” films), David Kross, Stig Henrik Hoff, Florian Lukas and Lachlan Nieboer.
At the beginning of World War II, a hostile chance encounter in the skies above the harsh Norwegian wilderness leaves two aircraft—one British, one German—shot down in a remote and isolated region. By strange coincidence, the crews seek shelter in the same cabin. They must battle to survive the brutal winter in order to get back to the war—and to fighting one another. Although war has made them enemies, as the days go by, animosity proves hard to maintain. Mutual need leads to unlikely friendships, and the rules of war must be put aside.
Into the White is now available On Demand and in theaters.
Finally, although Grint’s work with Ed Sheeran on Ed’s “Lego House” video is old news, designer Dylan Woodley has created a new version, with actual Legos, that mirrors the original.
Rupert Grint has revealed that he would love to make a cameo in EastEnders. The actor – best known for his role as Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter series – said that he wants to “cause a bit of trouble” on the BBC soap. “I love EastEnders. I’d definitely like to walk into the Queen Vic, maybe cause a bit of trouble,” the 24-year-old told The Sun.
Harry Potter alum Rupert Grint is set as the title character in Super Clyde, Greg Garcia’s single-camera pilotfor CBS. The project, from CBS TV Studios, centers on Clyde (Grint), a meek, unassuming fast food worker who decides to become a super hero. Mike Fresco is directing the pilot as well as executive producing with Garcia. This marks the first series role for Brit Grint, who played Ron Weasley in the blockbuster Harry Potter franchise.
Rupert Grint plays a Viagra-popping aspiring porn star in a new film starring Evan Rachel Wood and Shia LeBeouf, The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman.
Synopsis: Traveling abroad, Charlie Countryman falls for Gabi, a Romanian beauty whose unreachable heart has its origins in Nigel, her violent, charismatic ex. As the darkness of Gabi’s past increasingly envelops him, Charlie resolves to win her heart, or die trying.”
Grint plays Charlie’s slightly peculiar friend Carl, a young man with an unusual pill problem and dreams of becoming a porn actor.
In a phone interview with fan website Rupert Grint Press, Grint described his character as “quite strange,” and added, “I think it’s gonna be quite a weird, surreal, quite twisted film. Should be cool.”
Okay, sleeping is incredibly important and something we love to do when we have the time, so we kind of understand why ‘Harry Potter‘ star Daniel Radcliffe invested big bucks in a mattress. Sort of.
But this was no ordinary Serta. Radcliffe dropped $17,000 on the custom made Savior mattress from Savior Beds.
So what makes it so special? Well, it’s made of horse hair fleece and pine wood and is completely hand sewn by children who have been bred since birth to create the finest mattresses.
But of course this is nothing compared to his co-star Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), who purchased himself an actual hovercraft.
Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson have enjoyed success from post-Potter projects. Now Rupert Grint has a new movie coming out, “Into the White.” The story is of a group of German and English fighter pilots who shoot each other’s planes down in the midst of World War II. In order to survive in the Norwegian wilderness, they must forge an unlikely friendship.
It definitely looks interesting. What do you think? Hit or miss for Rupert?
While the movies may be in the past, little behind-the-scenes moments can be dredged up by interviews like this.
Matt, on Rupert’s Kiss with Emma Watson: “He also showed versatility in how he developed the love story [with Emma's Hermione Granger]. Though when it finally came to his kiss with Emma, we ripped him for it; as attractive as she is, he was not looking forward to it.”
Rupert, on Matt’s transformation: “Even in the fourth film, poor Matt still had some crappy fat suit, prosthetic teeth and things to make his ears stick out, so people thought that was how he looked, but underneath he had changed. For me, that contrast was clearest in the final film, when he did this big speech in a courtyard and you thought, ‘Where did that come from?’ It was a great moment. I noticed, too, the change in public awareness – overnight he became a sex symbol and it was nice for Matt to have his moment. He gave me a bit of stick with the kissing scenes with Emma, though, as back in the day he had a little thing with her.”
Matt, on Rupert getting the giggles: “Rupert was great at making everyone laugh on set. There was one scene in which he had to come on and say, “Back off, unless you want a fistful of Weasley,” which was a direct quote from the book. But Rupert couldn’t say it, and he broke out in an infectious laugh; every time he tried to do the scene we all got the giggles, too – until the director was like, “This just isn’t working, let’s scrap the line and move on.” We’d wasted an entire day filming because of Rupert’s laugh. In the early films he was all about making an audience laugh, too – he has such great facial expressions.”
Rupert, on food fights on film: “I’ll never forget one moment in the work canteen when we started throwing peas at each other. They ended up flying towards a certain Slytherin’s table – we always sat separately – and it escalated. I got threatened by one of the gentlemen, and there was a big chase with me, Matt and the Slytherins all round the studio. I was really quite scared as they were big guys, but he had my back.”
This is an older video from the time of the Deathly Hallows II release, but that almost makes it more interesting to watch now. From Ralph Fiennes to Emma Watson, most of the Harry Potter cast laughs while sharing their favorite spoken lines. What a series, and what a cast!
We really miss these guys. They were such a fun group, and their performances will have such an everlasting effect on our lives. Which lines were your favorite?
In the Harry Potter Wizard’s Collection, we’re exposed to a huge amount of behind-the-scenes footage. This particular interview, reported through Sugar Scape, is with Rupert Grint.
Even though Harry Potter has come to an end, now all the DVDs are out we can watch them back-to-back and marvel at Ron, we mean Rupert Grint, in all his glory.
We caught up with Rupert at The Harry Potter Studios, to see how he feels now it’s all over.
So what’s his favourite set?
Rupert said: “This is probably one of them, the Gryffindor Common Room, we spent a lot of time in here, particularly in the early ones and there’s just so many memories and I had my first kissing scene literally just there and it’s really weird to think that every prop and every part of everything here has got 10 years of memories in it.”
…So did he get to keep anything from the set? He said: “I did get the number off Harry’s door in Privet Drive. It was quite sneaky, I had to unscrew it with a piece of gravel.”
