Azkaban chapters 5-8 released on Pottermore

For those of us who have been waiting ages for more Pottermore updates, we finally have more chapters to explore.

We are excited to announce that the next instalment of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is now ready to explore. In this instalment you will witness a re-enactment of the beheading of Nearly Headless Nick, learn about the ancient wizarding game of Gobstones, pick up sweets in Honeydukes and see the ‘most haunted dwelling in Britain’ – the Shrieking Shack.

For the first time, some of the new Moments have been released with accompanying audio book snippets for our UK, US and German users. We have also introduced a new spoiler alert feature on selected exclusive entries from J.K. Rowling. If you are about to read anything that may give away storylines or information from beyond that particular Moment on Pottermore.com, an alert will appear. You then have the choice to continue reading or to navigate away and come back at a later time so as not to spoil your own journey through the stories. You can disable the spoiler warning any time it appears and manage your spoiler settings in Account Settings.

For those of you who took part in our Teaser Questions, we are keeping the answers a secret for a few more days. We wanted to give you time to explore the new Moments and look or listen out for the answers yourselves. Share your discoveries on our Facebook page if you have an account; or on Twitter using the hashtag#pmteasers.

Pottermore updates on new features and surprises

There are two exciting developments hitting Pottermore. First, something strange brewing in the Divination classroom, and second, a magical winter wonderland in Diagon Alley.

Pottermore tea leaves

We want to hear your predictions and what you think they mean for your future.

Share your predictions with the Pottermore community and get the conversations going in the Great Hall and your common room or share them with us on Facebook and Twitter. We’ll retweet our favourite predictions throughout the week and share a selection here on the Insider too.

Those at the Pottermore team have so far seen and predicted the following:

‘I think it looks like a camel. I think that means I’m going to go on holiday somewhere sandy. And ride a camel.’
‘A dog’s head – Puppy for Christmas!’
‘It looks like an egg yolk in the bottom of a cup. No comment.’
‘It’s a four-legged chicken. Maybe I’m seeing my Sunday roast dinner…’

Tell us what you see in the tea leaves….

What do you see? From a distance I see Hagrid standing in the middle of a group of spiders on the left and a knight riding a unicorn on the right… Hm…

Give the gift of Harry Potter with Pottermore

With technological progress comes the new way to give and receive books- through the internet.

Just in time for the Holiday shopping season, the Pottermore Shop has launched a gifting feature so you can buy your loved ones digital copies of the Harry Potter books and present them as gifts.

“Choose the gift you’d like to treat someone to,” Pottermore explains, “Then select exactly when you want them to receive it. Or if they’re the impatient sort, they can have their story straight away. They will even be able to download their gift up to eight times to different devices.”

Just earlier this week the Pottermore Shop launched the eBook version of The Tales of Beedle the Bard. All proceeds from the purchase of the book, as explained by author J.K. Rowling in a video announcement, will go to The Lumos Foundation.

Would you prefer to have a physical copy of the books, or do you think this e-gifting is a great new idea?

Gryffindor victorious on Pottermore

The crowning of the House Cup on Pottermore has occurred again! The last victors were Slytherin, but this time around, Gryffindor took the lead.

It’s been a spirited competition, with much brewing and duelling but we would like to congratulate Gryffindor as the victor of the Pottermore House Cup for November, 2012.

Commiserations to Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, but your chance to make the Pottermore House Cup yours will come again – the house points have already been reset for the next contest in the Great Hall.

As a reward for winning the Pottermore House Cup, Gryffindor will be able to download beautiful artwork of their common room as wallpapers and screensavers for their electronic devices.

Members of Gryffindor house, keep an eye out on your owl notifications for further details when these become available, they should be arriving soon.

Until the next Pottermore House Cup, we wish everyone good luck and keep up the great work on your potions and spells.
