‘Potted Potter’ critique

One of The Fandom’s creators, Adam Spunberg, recently saw “Potted Potter” (see previous article). This is what he thought of the experience.

“When I arrived with the Harry Potter Club of NYC (The Group That Shall Not Be Named), I wasn’t sure whether to expect a serious run-through of the books or an AVPM-like, farcical musical. As it turned out, it was more comical than serious, but within the extreme silliness and jokes is an incredible overture to the Potter generation. Dan and Jeff are clearly enormous Potterheads (even if Dan keeps confusing the story with Narnia and Lord of the Rings — one of the show’s recurring gags), and the show speaks to anyone who has ever picked up Rowling’s masterpieces and found themselves transported to a magical realm, never to come back the same again.

It’s funny, smart, and snappy, with family entertainment and provides a chance for the Potter fandom to reconnect with the nostalgia that defined their youth. I’m so glad I went!”
